LawnBott Spyder LB1200 Review
If you have been waiting for a robotic lawn mower that does not require perimeter wire, this is it! The LawnBott LB1200 Spyder robotic lawn mower represents a new beginning for robotic lawn mowers. It sports new technology that is entirely revolutionary (and patented) for robot lawn mowers: No Installation Required.
- Take it out the box and charge it.
- Put it in the lawn
- Press the button and let it mow. It cannot get any easier than this!
Weighing only 18 pounds and equipped with a lithium battery, this 4-wheel drive robotic lawn mower is for lawns up to 5,500 sq. ft. with slopes 25-degree or below.
The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 robotic lawn mower has 6 sensors underneath its sleek Italian design - 3 sensors in the front, and 3 sensors in the back. Each sensor hangs below blade level. As these sensors move through the grass, it detects moisture within the grass blades. When the LawnBott Spyder LB1200 robotic lawn mower approaches anything that's not living grass, it stops and goes in another direction. This means concrete, rocks, dirt, mulch, pine straw, dead grass or any thing that is not living grass will send this lawnmower in another direction.
Another new great feature of the mower is how it detects obstacles. When the lawn mower gently bumps (or pushes) an object, the on board computer will notice at least one of the wheels has stopped or a wheel is requiring a lot more power than the rest. This causes the mower to stop, reverse and change direction.
The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 robotic lawn mower can run up to 5 hours on a single charge. It is rain-weather proof so you don't have to worry about water damage to the mower during a rain shower. Its powerful mowing motor can mow pretty much any type of grass. The low profile, 4 wheel drive wheels help it navigate over most terrains.
The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 robotic lawn mower generally has the same mowing pattern as other LawnBott robotic lawn mowers. It will take longer to finish the yard than if you manually mowed, but because you're not - who cares?
For those who do not mind to bring the mower inside to charge each time, and do not mind putting the lawn mower down in the yard and pressing a button to start it - this robotic lawn mower is for you.
Is your yard suitable for the LawnBott LB1200 Spyder?
- Total lawn size should be smaller than 5,500 sq. ft.
- No hills or slopes beyond 25 degrees
- Neighboring yards need to be separated (lawn border, mulch, etc)
- No curbs with sharp drop offs connected to lawn
- Minimum height for lawn edging or borders must be at least 4.5" for low cut Spyder or 5.5" for high cut one for bump sensors to function
- Minimum height lawn must be in 1.7" for low cut model or 2" for high cut model to reach the grass sensors. (Spyder will not activate blade unless grass reaches sensors)
- Flowers, gardens and pools (or anything level with lawn you do not want it to mow) should be separated from lawn by at least 10" of dirt, mulch, concrete and rocks or anything but living grass
- Dormant, sparse or very dry lawns - If your lawn is dormant (more than 50%), the Spyder may not detect enough grass to activate the blade. This also applies to sparse areas or extremely dry grass. © LawnBotts.com

Other highlights:
The LawnBott are the only robotic lawn mowers that have been accepted by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The LawnBott LB1200 Spyder robotic lawn mower will stop the blade when one of the handles is touched. When both handles are touched, the wheels will stop. When the mower is put down again, it will automatically restart mowing.
The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 robotic lawn mower can barely be heard when standing 15 feet directly from it while it is mowing! Night time mowing is a nice bonus for robotic lawn mowers.
